lots, but docs can avoid it. After all, if they like to rip off their needy patients, they have to pay the piper for retaliatory strikes.

VERY expensive, in some cases hundreds of thousands of dollars, but is really based on the state where they practice. I know here in Pennsylvania there is a horrible Doctor shortage due to very relaxed laws on suing doctors and hospitals causing insurance to be out of reach for most practices.

Malpractice premiums vary by location and specialty. Generally, OBGYNs pay the highest premiums. Lowest premiums are found in New England ( Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont) and East South Central ( Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee) areas, whereas the highest premiums are found in the Middle Atlantic ( New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania) and East North Central ( Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin) areas.

Download the GAO document below for more details for ballpark premiums that can exceed 200,000 annually.
